Appeal after elderly woman is robbed in her home #police #appeal
POLICE are appealing for information after an 85 year old woman was robbed in her own home in Thornton on Sunday (21st October).
Around 10pm a man has rang the victim’s doorbell at her home on Belford Avenue and when she has opened the door he has used bodily force to barge past the woman knocking her to the floor.
The man has then ran into her living room and stolen a large, undisclosed quantity of cash before running out of the front door.
The incident happened very quickly and the offender had a hood up but is believed to be around 20 years old, average height and a slim build.
DC Carl Pritchard from Fleetwood CID said: “This is a serious offence in which an elderly and vulnerable woman has been targeted in her own home.
“Fortunately her injuries were minor with bruising to her chest and arm and a grazed nose. However this ordeal has really affected her confidence and will no doubt have a long term effect on her.
“I would appeal to anybody with any information about the man responsible or witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the offence to come forward and contact us.
“I would also be keen to hear from anyone that has perhaps unusually come into some money over the past few days. This is a wicked crime and it is very likely that somebody in the community will know the identity of this offender and I would appeal to anyone with information to make contact on 01253 604404 or 101.”
People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

Switch your Security Systems #alarms #protectyourbusiness #securitysystems
Using advanced Intruder Alarm Technology, ensuring reduction in false alarms, our intruder alarm systems are professionally designed, installed and maintained. From the outset our security surveyors will design a system that is specific to each of our customer’s needs and requirements, ensuring at the same time all British & European Standards and Police regulations are not only achieved, but are also exceeded.
Fundamentally there are two types of systems available, these being :
- Bells Only or Audible Alarm, these are usually unsuitable for commercial premises and will not provide automatic Police response.
- Remotely Monitored Systems are linked to an alarm receiving centre, which will filter the activation and notify the Police and keyholders on your behalf. This level of response is only available for systems that have been certified by an approved company, such as Alert Fire and Security Ltd.
Why Not Bells Only?
Simple, just because you have an alarm system installed it doesn't mean that you are fully protected. Bells and sounders are usually ignored and wires for the alarm may be damaged or cut, so there is no point wasting money on a system that can be easily defeated.
Choosing a remotely monitored alarm system from Alert Fire and Security will ensure peace of mind, whilst providing a cost effective solution.
Our Intruder Alarm Monitoring & Maintenance packages are as follows:
Silver: Only £19 per month
Gold: Only £29 per month
Platinum: Only £44 per month

Protect and Deter with Our Technology #dna #dnamarking #securitysystems #protectproperty
Instant Protection and DNA Marking
Using our capture and deter technology, we can provide instant protection against property loss within the critical few minutes between alarm activation from a break-in and police attendance to investigate. Our capture technology works by generating an impenetrable cloud of smoke within 10-15 seconds of activation that restricts visibility to less than 30cm and disorientates the thief forcing them to leave the premises.
The Science of Security.....linking the criminal to the crime scene
The forensic tag used in the majority of our products is redWeb redDNA™ which is available as an invisible solution or as a red dye which helps police officers and security personnel to identify a suspect fleeing the crime scene.
Once purchased, each batch whether a spray canister or a pot of grease or gel, is registered to an individual user and location using a unique tag.
RedDNA™ contains a red dye which remains on the skin and clothing for several days and an indelible UV dye which can only be seen under UV light. Once tested the unique tag means that it can be linked back to the crime scene.

Songs about security: She Came in Through the Bathroom Window #Beatles | Jan 2012
We all know that the finest in security devices are rendered useless if you don't secure your home or business properly.
And so did Lennon and McCartney when they wrote this song. The summer of love may have been heady indeed, but The Beatles knew that with the 1970s just around the corner, there were certain to be unscrupulous characters on the look out for an open window. This is why this song was included in the closing medley of The Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road. Fans had to be made aware of the importance of security.
Or at least, this is how we imagine the discussions went in the studio. Whoever the girl was that came in through the window, she was protected by a silver spoon, which forces our protagonist into quitting his job at the police department and getting a steady job. A sorry tale, indeed.
Enjoy!
